Kia’s Towing Champion: The Telluride
The mighty Kia Telluride is a rugged, full-size SUV which boasts a powertrain and frame perfect for doing some decent towing. While certainly not as powerful as a pickup truck, a properly equipped Telluride x-Pro can still tow an impressive 5,500 lbs. Even the entry level EX can hitch up 5,000 lbs to take with you on your adventures.
Middle of the Road: The Sorento and the Carnival
Kia’s versatile mid-size SUVs are also fairly capable at towing when required. The family-focused Kia Carnival SUV and the high-end Kia Sorento X-Pro, with its suped-up 2.5L Turbo 4 Cylinder GDI engine, have the capability needed to tow up to 3,500 lbs. The Carnival Hybrid still gets a respectable 3,000 lbs of towing capacity if you’re also concerned with fuel economy.
Not Recommended
The fact is, not every SUV is designed with towing in mind. The subcompact Kia Seltos and the crossover Kia Niro are both excellent commuter vehicles ideal for city life, and are perfect for longer highway trips, but simply aren’t big or powerful enough for proper towing.
